The team is led by one of the top coaches in the United States today, Mike Bottom, when his former coach, and who also coached Mendel at the time, is none other than Bob Bauman, the legendary coach of Michael Phelps. Phelps himself also swam with the Wolverines while Bauman coached the team, but without being an official member of it.
