This marks the first time in Sagiv’s career—and in Israeli sports history—that he has won a gold medal at a World Cup event. Sagiv had an excellent start, exiting the swim in second place. After a fast transition, he led the cycling segment from the beginning, maintaining a strong 45-second lead. He continued his dominant performance with an impressive run to claim first place at the finish line.

Sagiv said: “I dreamed of hearing the national anthem at an international competition. Singing ‘Hatikvah’ moved me to tears.”

Next month, Sagiv and Levanon will compete in the European Championships in Spain. An emotional Sagiv said after the race: “Since the war began on October 7th, I’ve been dreaming constantly of hearing our national anthem played at a top-level international competition. In the midst of these difficult days for the State of Israel, I finally fulfilled that dream. Singing ‘Hatikvah’ moved me to tears, and I feel immense pride.” Follow us for more Twitter : https://goo.gl/KhgKGD
